Housing Update 4/19

So I called Harbor Bay again today...they said they should have found out by today whether or not we get the house on Savana. But Libby was not there and so I left a message and hopefully she'll call me back tomorrow to let me know.

Cece and her crew checked out the house on Ironwood today with Harbor Bay...but Amy has also been keeping in contact with the actual owner. By what Amy tells me, it sounds like we have a good shot at getting Ironwood...but because of the price ($2400) we will have to have 6 people living there...which means that the other house will be 4 people...with the ways things are split up right now:
Group 1: Amy, Dora, Sheri, Cece, Irene, Azusa
Group 2: Ariana, Linda, Sue, Jackie
This doesn't work too well because Group 1 has all the income and Group 2 has virtually none (underline = good income, italics = decent income...if you don't have gmail i don't know if you can see edit)...haha...and so far I haven't heard anything about anybody new getting jobs.
Let's see what happens...if we even get a house...but eventually we'll have to move some people around. Can we meet VERY BRIEFLY after SK2 this Sunday to work something out?

For now we're just going to have the 6 people in group 1 apply for Ironwood (i'll be sending you the applications in another email). Amy's been talking with the owner and he seems pretty chill so she doesn't think it'll matter too much to him which 6 actually finally live there, just so long as we get approved for 6 and we can keep up payments.

If we do get Ironwood, I'd like to try negotiating the rent since the washer and dryer don't come with the place and we'd have to get it ourselves. so if we can bring it down by like 50 -100 it would make it a lot nicer.

Housing Update 04/17

Hey all,

A lot of developments over the past couple of days and I'm sure people are growing anxious about the uncertainty.

We're going to move forward with the 10 people we have. Katie and Jen have pulled out for personal reasons.

First of all, we're still waiting to hear back from Harbor Bay about the houses we applied for. I've left 2 messages and I'll try to call again tomorrow. So when we hear back about this, we can move forward. If we get approved for the house, we'll move around the people in the houses to try to accomodate people's needs more, but we first need to hear back from them first.

The videos of the houses we're applying to right now can be viewed at my youtube account:
http://www.youtube.com/profile?user=raisedoncoffee
House 12 is our first choice
House 11 is our second choice

If we get house 12, we'll probably be having 5 people live there because it is a cheaper house, and if we also get house 11, we'll have 6 live there. These are all if's so I'm hesitant to discuss it further until we get more information, so stay posted.

Also, if you haven't already, PLEASE discuss with your families if it is alright for you to be living in Alameda...don't spring this on your parents last minute because they probably won't be happy if you do that and you will also bring upon further changes to the housing situaiton. So for your sake, your parents' sake, and our situation's sake, talk with your parents if you have not already done so.

Alrighty sistas, thanks for your patience again and please keep praying that we'll get at least one of the houses we applied for, it will eliminate a lot of uncertainty.

Thank You

Thank you again today for meeting and being cooperative; I have renewed joy and excitement about the whole living situation and I hope you do too. And thank you for volunteering to help out.

Just to reiterate what was covred today & what needs to be done:

Research:
  • The following are those who will be searching for new homes. The links provided will directly link you to the area of the site that is connected with alameda/bayfarm. You're smart you can figure it out.
  • We really want to get housing in Bayfarm, so if you are unsure if the address is in Bayfarm, Google it and see if it lies on the lower island. Use the address of Northloop for perspective and to identify which island is Bayfarm.
  • If you go to the site right now (Sunday), all the homes listed have already been seen and pursued. So take a look and keep checking back at least once a day to see if new stuff has appeared.
  • Right now we are still aiming for 6 people groups so 3 - 4 bedroom homes. Since no matter the size of the house, 6 people will be living there, our average price range is $2400. So report houses that fall around that amount.
  • The following people are in charge of checking the following sites:
  • Send all findings to Amy Wu.

Applications:

  • Go to http://www.hbrhomes.com/rental_policies.cfm to read the instructions and get the application for Harbor Bay Realty.
  • Go to http://www.alamedarentals.com/docs/rental_app.pdf to read the instructions and the application for Gallegar and Lindsey.
  • Give all applications to Cece Woo ASAP

Scouting:
  • The next scouting time sounds like it will be Tuesday with Linda & Jen. More info to follow. They will probably be checking out two houses.
  • Amy Wu will contact you.

Current Arrangements:

  • 6 people a house arrangements right now:
    • Group 1: Cece, Amy, Dora, Sheri, Azusa, (Irene)
    • Group 2: Ariana, Linda, Jen, Katie, Sue, Jackie
  • 4 people a house arrangements if we have to go there:
    • Group 1: Katie, Irene, Azusa, Linda
    • Group 2: Dora, Amy, Jen, Cece
    • Group 3: Ariana, Sue, Sheri, Jackie
  • We'll probably switch over to looking for 2 bedroom places if we don't at least get one home by the last week of April.

Thank you everyone again for your help, cooperation, flexibility, and ultimately your love and grace...it is seriously a miracle how God has brought us from intimidating, isolating, fearful, skeptical, (list goes on) people...to sisters in Christ, struggling to love one another, growing and maturing together as one body.

Welcome to the Housing Blog!

Sorry I deleted the other post because I don't want to take any chances that someone might have stumbled across the information that was on it.

Ok so now that we are 12, if we split up by 6's it would be harder to look for housing, but we can try.

Right now we have an application going through for a group of 5 for really a good house. (FYI: the five are Cece, Dora, Amy, Sheri, Azusa) I really would like to see if we could get it before we make more changes. If they do agree to go with us, we can try to really ask them if we can add one more.

Since we already have 6 applications with the agency, that will be Group 1 and the rest will be Group 2:

Group 1: Dora, Amy, Cece, Irene, Azusa, Sheri
Group 2: Jen, Linda, Sue, Katie, Ariana, Jackie

Does this work for everyone? If not let me know if you want to be switched.

EVERYBODY HAVE YOUR APPLICATIONS IN TO ME BY SUNDAY NIGHT SO WE CAN SUBMIT YOUR APPLICATIONS FOR THE SAME TWO HOUSES GROUP 1 HAS SUBMITTED FOR BY MONDAY. NO MORE NEW PEOPLE.

If we don't get at least 1 house by near the end of this month, we need to split into 4's and search for 2 bedroom places. Let's have these groups settled just in case. So we can apply quickly if the event sould arise. (FYI: We can't do this now because we can only go for one place at a time at Harbor Bay and so far that's the only place that has shown us decent housing)

Option 1
Group 1: Dora, Azusa, Amy, Jen
Group 2: Ariana, Cece, Irene, Linda
Group 3: Sheri, Jackie, Katie, Sue

Option 2
Group 1: Dora, Amy, Sheri, Irene
Group 2: Cece, Jackie, Jen, Azusa
Group 3: Ariana, Sue, Katie, Linda

Option 3
Group 1: Dora, Amy, Cece, Linda
Group 2: Jackie, Ariana, Jen, Sue
Group 3: Azusa, Irene, Katie, Sheri

Okie Dokies, you know the drill, gimmie your choice.

-Dora
